New Horizons Ministries is a nonprofit, interdenominational Christian ministry that was formed in 1978 in response to the growing problems of youth involved in street activity in downtown Seattle.
We have served many thousands of youth, each with their own face, name, and story. The Mission Statement and Statement of Faith lay the foundation for how we serve each of these individuals.
Mission Statement
As a multi-cultural organization, our mission is to be in relationship with homeless and street involved young people, serving and loving in the way of Jesus, equipping them to leave street life.

In relationship with street youth providing emergency, long-term and referral services, and opportunities for healthy, committed relationships with Christian adults.

Serving in practical ways, providing meals, showers, clothing, laundry, case management, hospital & jail visitations, housing & treatment referrals, and counseling.

Loving youth unconditionally, regardless of their circumstance.
|
|
Equipping youth through life discovery, job mentorship, recreation activities, discipleship opportunities, and more.

Encouraging youth in their exploration of spirituality, introducing them to and helping them grow in a relationship with Jesus Christ.

New Horizons, in addition to providing services, develops relationships with youth by:

Encouraging youth to take personal responsibility for the consequences of their decisions in an effort to help them make healthy choices.

Serving youth without regard to religious beliefs, race, color, gender, national origin, sexual orientation or handicap.
|
|
Training, and supporting churches, ministries, organizations and individuals in ministry and service to this population.

Statement of Faith
|
|
There is one God, Creator and Lord of the Universe, the co-eternal Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
|
|
Jesus Christ, God's Son, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary and lived a sinless life. He died on the cross, removing our guilt and reconciling us to God. He rose bodily from the dead and ascended into heaven where He is the only mediator between God and man.

|
All Scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the believer may be adequately, equipped for every good work.
|
|
All people are made in the image of God, yet are sinners, and are incapable of returning to God apart from grace. Salvation is through faith in Christ alone.
|
|
There is one holy, universal and apostolic Church, which is called to worship God, preach the Gospel, make disciples, promote righteousness and justice, and relieve human need.
|
|
The Holy Spirit persuades us to repent of our sins, renews our hearts, and causes the Church and its people to grow in Christian maturity.
|
|
Christ will return to raise the dead, judge all people and establish His glorious Kingdom.
|
