Bowl of Apples

New Horizons Mural

There will be another Art Show at Kimzey Miller Gallery December 3rd - December 23rd, Mon.-Sat. 9:00am -5:00pm.
The galery will be featuring the works of former our client Jessie Edwards.

We first met Jesse when he would use our drop-in center several years ago. His life was different then, but his artistic gift was already evident. His paintings, and sketches would hang in the drop-in center for months. Eventually we commissioned him to do his "graffiti art" as a permanent fixture on the front of our building. His paintings now hang in galleries. We were honored to have purchased one of his paintings from the 2001 Kimzey Miller Gallery show in Seattle. His talent, and hard-work are being recognized far beyond the community of New Horizons now, we're incredibly proud of him.

Artist's Statement:

I am a product of my environment. In my work, I usually begin each piece in the classical tradition of monochromatic under painting. As I progress in each piece, I try to improve the aesthetics of the work, recalling in my artistic vocabulary, the technique which is ever broadening and narrowing simultaneously, taking in more information and casting aside information, until the work reaches a state of finish, which I find satisfying to my eye.

I feel my work to be truly artistically modern, because of my awareness of the classical traditions in oil painting as I have studied and the one common goal throughout the ages of man in pursuit of truth in his art. My goal is to create a truly modern art through the study of previous masters, nature, and the pursuit of truthfulness in my observational skills.
