Jessica Wright: Poetry

Christians with a mission

A generation so torn and ravaged
A knifing chasm cut deep,
In a world so bent on destruction
That it never really sleeps.
Nations fighting nations
Government against government
Sisters fighting brothers
And mothers fighting others
A world so crushed and shamed
Everyone sees that it’s broken
Yet who does really stand up?
Are words of hope truly spoken?
We sit around and make all these complaints
Wasting precious time on all these pretty things
Doesn’t Christ call us to be that ray of hope?
To show who strength really is and give it a way to cope
He gives us our life
And we see all these years
Shouldn’t we choose to spend it?
Wiping our brothers tears
Do we not know the healing balm?
The on sent to save our world
Can’t we be the one’s to show God’s loving hope
To all of his boys and girls
You say you’re a Christian so here is a challenge
One that’s become easy to meet
Everyone knows of someone who’s out there
Who’s dealing with the feeling of defeat?
Show them that you care
Offer a word of hope
It makes a huge difference
Giving a way to cope
It’s the easiest gift to give
You don’t have to go and guy it
Why not do it more often
When joy is right beside it.
